Why are we picking The Delta Spirit as our Most Interesting Band? It's simple. While these young Californians take their cues from the late 60s, they're not much interested in the Summer of Love. They're a hell of a lot more interested in taking your heart, shaking it, and urging you to make change for the better. Not just for your friends, but for those two loftiest of goals: for yourself, and for the world around us all, infinitely far but somehow only one embrace away. The Delta Spirit, unlike many bands today, want to make you believe. Their anthemic roots-rock songs -- so clearly inspired by the trio of Guthrie, Dylan, and Springsteen (yet fired off with punk's sharpened intensity) -- ask you what you can do for your world (or country), and not just what your world (or country) can do for you. The Delta Spirit wants you to think, to ask questions, and then act. And if you can't act, then sing. And teach the song to someone else. Their willingness to be openly passionate about their music and belief is, in this day and age, probably more than just a little interesting, isn't it?
