Jack Silverman Quartet

The Jack Silverman Quartet weaves elements of psychedelic music, jazz noir and improvisation, while exploring the contrast between melody and dissonance, to create what might best be described as a film soundtrack collaboration between Pink Floyd, Angelo Badalamenti and The Lounge Lizards. Their debut studio LP Prince of Shadows — produced by Roger Moutenot (Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney, Paula Cole, Lambchop) — was released March 1, 2024, on Centripetal Force Records, both digitally and as 300-run limited edition vinyl LP.

“On Prince of Shadows, Nashville improv adventurers Jack Silverman Quartet deconstruct genre conventions to find deep grooves and way-out sounds. Their full-length debut via Centripetal Force Records straddles signifiers of a kaleidoscopic array of subgenres of psychedelia — crossing the I’s and microdotting the T’s, if you will, to create a thoroughly modern, unmistakably 21st-century moment in American improvisational music.” — Sean L. Maloney, Nashville Scene

“The slinking, jazzy ambience Silverman is known for now swings with a bold, smoky strut, and plenty of psychedelic weirdness that bubbles just under the surface, keeping the music feeling dazed and dreamlike. If his previous releases were like scores for unmade noir films, then this album is like the soundtrack to the most Day-Glo David Lynch thriller you could imagine.” — Keith Hadad, Record Crates United

Silverman is also a member of The Nashville Ambient Ensemble, who have released two albums on Centripetal Force. He also released the Live at the 5 Spot cassette on Centripetal Force and the EP Now What on YK Records, both in 2021.
